Our aim in producing this photographic collection was to provide you with a glimpse of the churches in which your ancestors worshipped, the churchyards in which they were buried and the buildings in which they lived and worked.  We have taken photographs of all of the churches and, where suitable, some of the old buildings and views in each of the ancient parishes of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.  Although it has not always been possible, we endeavoured to keep modern intrusions to a minimum.  This meant that, in some cases, we could not take as many pictures as we would have wished. Also, some of the original parishes are virtually extinct and few old buildings, if any, remain there.
